First Line For Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo dominated the official qualifying session of the ETCC 2004 first round at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza, today. Gabriele Tarquini, ETCC champion, put his Alfa 156 on the top of the crow with a fantastic performance, defeating all his competitors except his team-mate Augusto Farfus jr, that signed a extraordinary performance during his first race in the ETCC. Tarquini's Alfa was fast 1 second quicker than the first Bmw, driven by Dirk Muller. His team-mate Jorg Muller, signed the fourth time overall, 3/100 faster than the third Alfa Romeo official driver, Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Gabriele Tarquini estimates that his pole-position is not only a dramatic satisfaction, but it's also a very important sign of the high lever of power of the brand new Alfa Romeo 156. "The engine and the global set up are quite perfect and gave us an enormous grade of performance. We are 2 seconds faster than last year on the same track, and that is the best confirmation of the great work that Alfa Romeo did during the winter's months. Anyway, tomorrow we have to confirm this positive feeling during the race, but it will be difficult: Bmw driver will be absolutely motivated against our red first line of the grid. Augusto (Farfus) did another great job, he helped me a lot during the session and his second best time underlined that is a young, talented driver."
Tomorrow the first race will start at 2.45 pm, theh second one one hour later. On tv on the satellite channel Eurosport, live.

EUROPEAN ALFA CHALLENGE IN MONZA
Iacone Wins The First Race
The Italian Simone Iacone won the first race of the European Alfa Challenge, in Monza.
