Holtom in top 10 at Trois Rivieres!
Ottawa driver Jamie Holtom continues to improve in Honda Michelin series

TROIS RIVIERES, QUEBEC - Ottawa racer Jamie Holtom gained some first hand experience one of the toughest street circuits in existence, as the 2004 Honda Michelin Series traveled to the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres last weekend. The historic street circuit hosted round 6 of the 10 race series, and the 'concrete canyon' sent more than one driver home with a bent Honda Civic DX Coupe. Holtom steered his Control Microsystems SCADAPack Honda home to a strong 10th place, scoring more valuable Honda Michelin Series championship points.

"This was the toughest circuit we have raced the Control Microsystems SCADAPack Honda Civic on this year," Holtom said. "I like the track here, but using the entire track, while and keeping the car in one piece was very challenging."

Adding to that challenge was the changing weather. "It was really hot on Friday for our first session, then both qualifying sessions were in the rain." Holtom said. "Then for the race it was dry, but overcast. The rain held off, but again it was like learning the track all over again."

Holtom qualified his Control Microsystems SCADAPack Civic in 15th place, but the youngster was determined to move forward in the race - which he did. "I got squished into the wall on the first lap, and then just missed another accident later that same lap," Holtom said of the hectic start. "I was behind my teammate Travis [Walker] for a while, but then I got by him after he tapped the wall."

For the final few laps, Holtom was solidly in tenth. He then paced himself to save the car, while being content with his second top 10 in a row. "At the end, I just basically paced myself. I couldn't catch ninth, and the guy behind me couldn't catch me. We have a race next weekend, so I was trying to give our Jonak Brothers Racing team the least amount of work possible to prepare the car for the American Le Mans Round at Mosport next weekend."

Mosport should be an interesting weekend for Holtom. It will mark the first time that he has visited a track for the second time in his Control Microsystems SCADAPack Honda. "I am looking forward to Mosport. I know we can do well there," Holtom added. -bond-
