M1 GT Racing to contest Miami 500 road race with Audi R8

After the conclusion of the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge program at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca that ended with another podium result, M1 GT Racing wasted no time filling the downtime between then and the end of the year.

With a test scheduled early in December to tryout drivers for their 2017 campaign, M1 GT Racing has also confirmed entry to the Formula & Automobile Racing Association promoted Miami 500 event in South Florida.

Taking place at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Walt Bowlin and Larry Pegram will return to the seat of the M1 GT Racing Audi R8 and will be joined by PWC SprintX Vice Champion David Ostella as they look to add to their successes before closing out the competition season. Competing in the FARA Modified Production Class, the trio of drivers will put the Audi R8 through the paces in their quest to stand atop the podium in South Florida’s #1 road racing event.

“This is a great way to end the racing season and to have Walt and Larry back in the car is extra special,” explained Remi Lanteigne. “The Miami 500 has been on our radar for quite some time as we have heard nothing but positive comments from past participants. With our shop located in Brooksville, Florida, it is basically a home race for us. We can’t wait to get back on track and we invite all of our friends and followers to come see us trackside.”

As part of the Audi Sport customer racing program, M1 GT Racing will be piloting their 2016 Audi R8 LMS in the event before participating in a private test session in early December.

Lanteigne continued, “We are trying to get a head start on the 2017 season. We received the new car early this year and my entire team was put under the gun to make things happen. Now, time is on our side and I think that will elevate the level of our entire program both on and off the track. The chance to test new and existing drivers in this year’s equipment is something that we missed out on at the end of 2015.”
