Mont-Tremblant results 2003-09-28

Mont-Tremblant, September 28, 2003 -- Rain added to the challenge of the final races of the 2003 season at Circuit Mont-Tremblant.

CANADIAN FORMULA FORD CHAMPIONSHIP

Starting in the lead after the second qualifier, Christopher Guerrieri was followed closely by Didier Schraenen and Olivier Comeau. Guerrieri won both the race and the Canadian Formula Ford Championship.

"I want to thank my entire team and my sponsors, without whose help I could not have won the race and this year's championship. My car performed well on the wet track, so I was in full control. Our sponsor, masexualite.ca, really came through for us this year. It's an unusual organization that gave us a lot of visibility and attracted the support of other sponsors. I'm pleased to be the spokesperson for a cause that is so important to my generation."

Didier Schraenen had a terrific weekend, starting second after the qualifiers. Unfortunately, he skidded a few times on the wet surface and finished 6th; but this still assured him 2nd place in the Canadian Formula Ford Championship.

VINTAGE CARS

The most popular class at Circuit Mont-Tremblant this weekend was somewhat reduced as a number who had signed up chose not to race in the rain. This was understandable, given the rarity of some of the cars.

Djelebian was not able to start the race today because of mechanical problems. Lew Mackenzie won with a time of 2:08.323 followed by Robert Boyer and Louis Morin.

PRODUCTION GTO

There was a terrific race in this class. Sylvain Erickson, for one, with his unusual skidding technique, had spectators catching their breath at every turn.
