Weekend Speedfest Heads For Croft
More top quality car racing heads for Croft Circuit this weekend (May 15/16) with another action packed race weekend organised by the British Automobile Racing Club Ltd.
No less than fourteen races will be contested around the North's premier race track over the two day meeting which comprises rounds of a number of national as well as local championships.
The Caterham marque is well represented with rounds three and four of the BookaTrack.com Caterham Graduate Championship. There were double victories for Birmingham driver Andrew Adshead (Graduate) and former Scottish Kart Champion Guy Halley (Mega Graduate) in the opening meeting at Pembrey last month, whilst Rory Young (Reading) and Norwich driver Malcolm Barnett took a win each in the Super Graduate class and with packed grids once again, the competition is expected to be fierce.
The awesome Dunlop Supersport Championship will see S1 series leader and defending champion Stephen Shanly (Slough) in action in his Chiron LMP as he looks to repeat his Rockingham double at the start of the season whilst Neil Huggins from Hemel Hempstead leads the S3 category in his Radical Prosport.
Barry Webb leads the MG X Power Clubmans Cup after winning at Silverstone over Easter whilst the Lodge Sports Porsche 924 Championship saw a win for Chris Milne last time out at Snetterton.
The popular Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship makes its first visit of the season to Croft with drivers battling it out amidst six classes and a variety of machinery which always proves popular with the crowd. Yarm's Mark Campbell is likely to be hot favourite in his Lotus Elan whilst Darlington and District Motor Club stalwarts, David Cox and Terry Wright should be in action in their respective Honda's.
On Saturday, qualifying starts at 9.30am, with the first of five races from 2.15 onwards with action commencing on Sunday at 12.05pm with a nine race programme. Adult admission is £6 (Saturday) and £12 (Sunday). Children 15 years and under accompanied by an adult are admitted free.
