Welcome to the Autosport F1 Chinese GP Review! Host Kevin Turner and Jake Boxall-Legge dive into the action-packed second Grand Prix of F1's new era in China. From historic maiden victories to fiery debates over the new regulations, there is plenty to unpack from the Shanghai circuit. We also hear directly from the paddock with Stuart Codling's on-the-ground insights.
The team also discussed Lewis Hamilton's first podium in red following a thrilling battle with Charles Leclerc, and Max Verstappen's second DNF of the year, which fuelled his frustration with the new "Mario Kart" style regulations. They break down the phenomenon of "super clipping" alongside the wider debate around F1's new energy management rules, and examine McLaren's disastrous weekend, where neither car made the start due to electrical issues.

What makes a race truly legendary? Is it a wet-weather masterclass, a relentless wheel-to-wheel duel, or an underdog story that defies the odds?
As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th year, we move beyond the championship permutations to rank the sheer quality of the racing itself. In this episode, we dive into the definitive list of the Greatest Grand Prix ever held.
From the high-speed slipstreaming battles of Monza to the courage-testing curves of the Nürburgring, we debate which 10 races stand as the pinnacle of the sport’s history.
The Panel: Karun Chandhok: Former F1 driver and expert Sky Sports analyst. Kevin Turner: Autosport host. Roger Smith: Author and F1 historian.
Together, they assess our top-10 ranking, bringing Karun’s "from the cockpit" insight to 75 years of racing history. Does a tactical masterstroke at the Hungaroring beat a flat-out sprint at Spa? Our panel weighs the technical brilliance against the raw emotion of the world's most iconic races.
Discover the definitive list: For a deeper dive into the most iconic events since 1950, check out Smith and Turner’s new book, Formula 1 All the Races: The 100 Greatest Races.

Lando Norris has crowned himself the 2025 Formula 1 world champion. The McLaren driver managed to withstand all pressure during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and was visibly emotional after clinching the title. Norris explained in the champion’s press conference how important the lessons from the early part of this season have been, and what role the mental aspects have played in that process. Max Verstappen, for his part, still completed a memorable comeback and said that he feels better in Abu Dhabi now than he did twelve months ago. According to him, that is partly because the atmosphere within the team is better than it was a year ago and because Red Bull managed to turn the year around. That said, it does not automatically mean that everything at Red Bull will remain exactly the same for next year. Ronald Vording discusses it all in a new F1 Update, including the background to Helmut Marko’s hint in the paddock and the emotion shown by Gianpiero Lambiase. The episode concludes with attention for Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s disappointing season.

Max Verstappen did exactly what he needed to do on Saturday in Abu Dhabi: secure pole-position and put maximum pressure on McLaren heading into the race. Red Bull’s set-up changes proved effective to get rid of the understeer in sector 3, and once again Verstappen showed his ability to perform when the pressure is at its highest. Lando Norris also did what he needed to do by claiming a place on the front row, even though he looked a bit more nervous than normal during Q1. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella has already advised his driver to take absolutely no risks into Turn 1 on Sunday, all the more because the inside of the first corner at the Yas Marina Circuit can be treacherous. Ronald Vording analyses it all in a new episode of the F1 Update, including the question of whether Verstappen could opt for the Lewis Hamilton tactics from 2016 — backing up the field — and what that might mean for McLaren. The new episode also covers Ferrari’s disappointing qualifying session, with Lewis Hamilton being eliminated in Q1 for the third consecutive weekend, and Charles Leclerc admitting that he thought he was going to crash multiple times.

Lando Norris topped Friday practice in Abu Dhabi as McLaren started the weekend strongly. Oscar Piastri had a tougher day after giving up his FP1 seat to Pato O’Ward. Max Verstappen finished second, but Helmut Marko called the three-tenths gap to Norris “not a very comfortable situation,” while still expressing confidence that Red Bull can find pace before qualifying. Marko also doubts Mercedes or Ferrari can challenge Norris — pressure Verstappen could use. If that changes on race day, Zak Brown says McLaren is prepared to use team orders if needed, though Piastri won’t be asked to help from the start. Ronald Vording breaks it all down in the latest F1 Update, also touching on Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull promotion, another impressive day for Oliver Bearman, and Sauber’s farewell.

During F1’s media day in Abu Dhabi, all eyes were on Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. The leading trio in the championship standings sat together in the FIA press conference, where everyone tried to appear as calm as possible. Norris ended up contradicting himself in an amusing way, while Verstappen laughed that he already has four world championship trophies at home.
Afterwards, Verstappen talked to Dutch media in the paddock and answered the question whether he would be willing to apply Lewis Hamilton’s Abu Dhabi tactics from 2016 — if necessary. Norris, for his part, insisted he would not ask for team orders if he were running fourth, with Piastri in third and Verstappen leading.
McLaren, however, has made clear that in such a scenario the team would ask Piastri to help. Ronald Vording discusses it all in a new episode of the F1 Update, as well as Yuki Tsunoda revealing that other F1 teams had shown interest — but that Red Bull did not allow him to talk — and the online abuse Andrea Kimi Antonelli had to deal with after the Qatar GP.

Max Verstappen has closed the gap to championship leader Lando Norris to just twelve points after his F1 win in Qatar. Red Bull’s race pace turned out to be better than expected, although McLaren’s strategy was the main talking point in the paddock. The team decided not to make a “free pitstop” during the early safety car, immediately triggering thoughts of the much-discussed “papaya rules”. However, McLaren emphasises that was not the reason behind its strategy blunder.Instead, Andrea Stella pointed to three different factors. Ronald Vording discusses those extensively in a new episode of the F1 Update, as well as McLaren’s approach heading into the big finale in Abu Dhabi. There is further attention for the moment that saw Lando Norris pass Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the pressure Max Verstappen tries to put on McLaren, the upcoming driver announcement of both Red Bull teams, Carlos Sainz’s podium finish, and yet another difficult weekend for Ferrari.

Oscar Piastri has become the winner of Saturday’s F1 action in Qatar. The Australian controlled the sprint race and then went on to take pole-position for the main Grand Prix. It underlines that he feels more comfortable on a high-grip circuit, although it must be said that Lando Norris made a mistake at the end of Q3 as well. The championship leader also responded to Verstappen’s comments that he would have wrapped up the title long ago if he were driving the McLaren car. Verstappen countered Norris’ reply by saying he was “simply putting the facts on the table.” Ronald Vording discusses it all in a new episode of the F1 Update, along with another difficult day for Ferrari and a strong qualifying performance from Isack Hadjar. Finally, the question of why the sprint race in Qatar was so dull and Aston Martin wanting to put an end to all Christian Horner rumours are addressed.

Oscar Piastri has secured sprint pole for the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix. The McLaren driver has struggled in low-grip conditions over the past weeks, but seemed to rediscover some of his old form on Friday. It should be noted, however, that the margins were very small. George Russell came close to taking sprint pole, while Lando Norris said he had the pace to do so as well. Both drivers expect that overtaking – and even following other cars – will be difficult in Qatar, which led Russell to suggest extending the DRS zones. Ronald Vording discusses it in a new episode of the F1 Update, which also looks at Red Bull’s day. Max Verstappen struggled with bouncing, but what caused it? And does Yuki Tsunoda’s surprise performance have any influence on Red Bull’s driver decisions for 2026?
