Elkhart Lake, Wis. - Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Motorcity True Performance Dodge Viper, will start from the rear of the field for Saturday's round seven of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am for the BFGoodrich Cup race at Road America.

In qualifying, Archer drove his Viper to a second row starting position with a time of 2:09.08. However, in post qualifying tech, the car was deemed to have a front splitter that was one-sixteenth of inch too wide. This meant that the third place qualifying effort was set aside.

Although disappointed with the ruling, the Cinjo crew is focused on providing Archer with a car capable of winning from the back row. Similar to the Portland race two weeks ago when the Duluth, Minnesota resident had to fight his way back to the front after a flat tire, Archer will once again have to show his speed.

Quotes after Qualifying: Tommy Archer, #36 Cinjo Racing/Motorcity True Performance/Dodge Viper: "Qualifying went well, we were on the pole twice. We had a slight push that we will have to work on in tomorrow's practice. The post-qualifying tech was too bad for the team. It is one of those things that was nobody's fault.

Instead of going into turn one in second like I planned, we will have to pass 10 cars before we get there now."

Joe Tranchida, owner Cinjo Racing: "Tommy did a good job in qualifying the car today. The splitter issue is one of those things. We sent the nose out to be painted and when it came back we didn't think to check the measurement again. We saw how Tommy drove from the back of the field at Portland, we will have to have a similar performance tomorrow."

The Road America race will be televised on Speedvision on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 2:00 p.m.
