10th Manufacturer joins F1000 Pro Series in 2011

Hollywood, Ca (January 26, 2011) - Joining the field of nine other manufacturers set to compete in the 2011 F1000 Pro Series is Tapacat Racing Cars, headed by Hollywood screenwriter and former racer, Christopher Crowe.

Crowe, who's Hollywood writing credits include "The Last of the Mohican's," "Fear," and "Off Limits" announced today his re-entry into motor sport with the formation of Tapacat Racers, a race car manufacturing firm located in Los Angeles, California.

From the Silver Screen to professional auto racing? "It's not as great a leap as it may sound," Crowe said. "In fact, racing led me to my eventual screenwriting career. I was involved in the sport as a kid, driving SCCA cars back in the Midwest. On graduation from college, I went to work writing for Chris Economaki at National Speed Sport News. Not because I was a writer, really - but more because of my love for race cars. The problem was, I couldn't type. And no one at the paper could read my hand-scrawled race reports. So, to make a long story short, Chris bought me typing lessons, I typed a screenplay and sold it Hollywood - then spent a forty year career there.

When I heard about the F1000 Pro Series I couldn't resist re-involving myself in the sport. So I'm back where it all started - only this time manufacturing race cars instead of driving them. Better for an old man!"

Tapacat Racers is comprised of three primary members, Crowe; former national champion FSAE designer and engineer Bobby Alley of Bakersfield, CA.; and chief fabricator Maxwell Sullivan Crowe, also of Los Angeles.

Their Tapacat F1000 entry is currently being readied for its unveiling sometime in early spring.

The F1000 Pro Series sponsored by Goodyear Racing Tires, Williams Racing Development and George Dean Racing Engines, along with partner sponsors Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Elisabeth Jackson Motorsports Artwork & Designs, and Geartronics is based on purpose-built high-performance Formula 1000 race cars and Formula 2000 converted race cars powered by 1000cc motorcycle engines, with top speeds in excess of 150 MPH. The F1000 Pro Series consists of 10 SCCA sanctioned National championship races at five venues over the course of the 2011 season.
