Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Added to Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (January 30, 2009) -- Miller Motorsports Park is pleased to announce that the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup has been added to the lineup for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix, scheduled for May 15-17.

The Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing, is an innovative new racing series, launched in 2008, that utilizes identically prepared clean-diesel-powered Volkswagen Jetta TDIs driven by up-and-coming young racers aged 16 to 26. The series showcases Volkswagen's clean-diesel technology and also gives young racers a chance to get valuable experience and exposure at major racing events across America.

The concept is as revolutionary as the car, which is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder TDI, clean-diesel engine. The Jetta TDI is lightly modified from spec, featuring race-ready suspension and brakes and a six-speed double-clutch automatic DSG transmission. Additionally, to highlight its environmental dedication, Volkswagen has partnered with Carbonfund.org to certify the entire race series as carbon-free.

"We are very pleased to add the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup to the lineup for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix," said Mitch Wright, Director of Racing for Miller Motorsports Park. "This series is not only ground-breaking in terms of bringing clean-diesel technology to the forefront of racing, but the racing itself is very competitive and thrilling to watch. They are going to be a great addition to the weekend."

"Volkswagen is excited about the opportunity to showcase our TDI clean diesel technology to the great race fans in the state of Utah," said Volkswagen Motorsport Manager Clark Campbell. "Miller Motorsports Park is a fantastic facility and we look forward to seeing the Jetta TDI Cup cars battle it out on such a great track."

The Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix will be headlined by the American Le Mans Series, bringing the world's most sophisticated sports prototypes and GT cars to Utah for a fourth consecutive year. Joining the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup as supporting events will be the Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda, Formula BMW Americas, the STAR Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, the Patron Challenge by Yokohama and the IMSA Lites presented by Hankook Tires.
