Lipperini scores first SCCA National win with Hankook Tires.
Wayne, NJ (April 8, 2003) -- Joel Lipperini of Pittston, PA won the season opening SCCA Northeast Division National race on Sunday driving on Hankook Ventus Z211 tires.
Lipperini, the defending SCCA Showroom Stock C National Champion, started on the pole and led a field of 11 SSC competitors to the checker with a margin of victory of over 9 seconds at the challenging Summit Point road course, lowering the track record in the process.
Lipperini's win is even more significant as it was Hankook's initial race at this level of competition.
"The tires performed at a level that exceeded my expectations" Lipperini commented after the race. "They performed flawlessly and were a large and integral part of this successful weekend."
Hankook Tire America Corp. is headquartered in Wayne, NJ and is making its initial foray into the motorsports arena with its Ventus Z211 competition tire. Designed specifically for road racing, the Z211 is also the spec tire for the SCCA Pro Racing Mazdaspeed Miata Cup presented by Hankook Tire professional race series.
