Event: 2002 Sno*Drift ProRally®

Type: Automobile Race

Series: 2002 SCCA ProRally® Championship

Location: Atlanta, Michigan

Dates: Thursday - Saturday, January 24 - 26, 2002

The 2002 Sno*Drift ProRally®: ProRally® teams from all over the country will converge on Montmorency County, Michigan, January 24th - 26th, to test their driving skills. The 2002 Sno*Drift ProRally® is a full-points round for both Drivers and Manufacturers in the SCCA ProRally® Championship.

The 2002 Sno*Drift ProRally® will cover approximately 111 special stage miles and an overall distance of 216 miles. This is flat-out racing, on unknown roads and in unpredictable winter conditions, over Montmorency County's most challenging twisty, slippery roads.

Competitors generally see the course for the first time as they race it. Racing takes place on "special stages," closed by local authorities for the event. "Transits" connect the "special stage" sections together and are driven at normal highway speeds, where teams are subject to all traffic laws.

Vehicles are production-based cars and trucks from manufacturers around the world. Competition is for the overall victory and wins within six classes that group vehicles with similar performance together.

Each vehicle carries a driver and a co-driver/navigator. The navigator advises the driver of any hazards ahead and keeps the team on course using a detailed route book and a sophisticated rally computer. Navigators hold a critical role, as the team is traveling at full race speed over challenging roads they have never before seen, in all types of weather, night and day.

History of Sno*Drift:

-1998 cancelled due to extremely muddy road conditions
-1999 ran as a 60% National event.
-2000 ran as a Full National event.
-2001 ran as a Full National event.
