Teaches C5 enthusiasts fine art of Autocross.

PUYALLUP, WA -- Two-time SCCA Pro Solo Champion Scotty B. White demonstrated his autocross prowess during the C5 Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. White drove a stock West Coast Corvettes C5 in street trim and annihilated all the fastest times posted in the Supertuner Street Tire Race Shootout.

Scotty was scheduled to drive a Doug Rippie Motorsports-prepared 427 Corvette, but due to a delay during transport, the car was not available for the competition. Todd Wiley from West Coast Corvettes offered the use of their stock C5, whose only modifications were the WCC header and exhaust package and coil-over springs and shocks kit.

The West Coast Corvette was shod with OEM replacement type tires and the alignment was set for street use, not racing. In spite of this handicap, White was able to out-drive the stable of Supertuner specials fielded by Chuck Mallet, Jeff Nowicki Spectreworks, Breathless Performance and Lingenfelder Performance Engineering on the demanding cone course.

White also brought his bag of autocross tricks to share with other C5 owners during the 5th C5 Birthday bash. White was one of several top flight instructors for the Evolution High Performance School. Over 50 students participated in the program. The course was designed to teach owners how to enjoy their beloved Corvettes on a cone course.

"Many of the owners were amazed at the capabilities of the C5," described White. "They had no idea what these cars could do. All but six of the students were totally new to the experience. We had six other students who were completely hooked and wanted more information about SCCA autocross. Two of them begged us to let them do the school again the next day."

White also said the experience on a cone slalom course was a profound eye-opening experience for some.

"There was one woman who started out so slowly, it was like she was looking for a parking spot at Nordstrom. By the end of the day, she was smoking the tires off the line, literally! She knocked her times down by 20 seconds. She was so excited afterwards, she couldn't sit down."

In addition to his Pro Solo Championship titles, White is an SCCA T1 Club Racing champion and also posted the first ever win for the C5 in SCCA Pro Racing's World Challenge Series. This was his third C5 Birthday Bash trek. White's next North American Tour stop is the SCCA Double National at Buttonwillow, April 27 - 28. White hopes to repeat his recent performance at Willow Springs in his West Coast Corvettes/Kumho Tires T1 Corvette where he obliterated all existing T1 track records.
