Randy Ruhlman To Race Under Tom Gloy Racing Banner For 2002 Trans-Am Series

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 6, 2001) -- Tom Gloy Racing and Ruhlman Motorsports announced today Tom Gloy Racing will field an entry for Randy Ruhlman of Greensboro, N.C in the 2002 Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup. Ruhlman will drive the familiar Preformed Line Products/Coyote Closure Chevrolet Corvette. This will mark Gloy's 25th year of racing competition and the team's 12th year competing in Trans-Am, America's longest running road racing series. Ruhlman, a veteran driver made his professional racing debut 1990 and has 114 Trans-Am starts.

"It is great to have Randy and Preformed Line Products on our team for next year," said Gloy. "We look forward to giving Randy first class equipment to enable him to run at the front. I watched Randy's driving at the last several events of this year and liked what I saw. He is a strong addition to our team and he will give us two front running cars for 2002."

"I am really excited about being part of this winning team and working with Tom again," said Ruhlman. "Tom was my team owner back in 1991 and I learned more from him in that year than any since. The team is top notch and with the testing and guidance Tom can provide, I know I can win some races for him and our sponsors. Running here inspires me; I can't wait to get to the first race."

Ruhlman has closed the Ruhlman Motorsports race shop, which has for the last eight years prepared cars that competed in Trans-Am, International Motorsports Association (IMSA), NASCAR All-Pro and American Speed Association (ASA).

"As a team owner I was able to build and race some great cars," added Ruhlman. "It was satisfying to have a front running Trans-Am team, but it became too much to own and drive. It was the right time to close my shop and I am thrilled to be just a driver again. I can now dedicate myself to driving and I'll be able to concentrate on racing and winning."

Team Manager Bill Fingerlow will once again oversee the operation with Gloy. Gloy and Fingerlow have worked together as a winning combination for nine years. Tom Gloy Racing will prepare its entries at a new race shop in Mooresville, N.C. It will enter new Riley & Scott built 2002 Chevrolet Corvettes. The team will also field a second entry. Tommy Bahama's Cafe and Emporium's is returning as the sponsor and the driver will be announced at a later date.

Gloy's team finished second in the 2001 Trans-Am series in the #88 Tommy Bahama entry. The team also competed in the NASCAR Truck Series for 1997, 1998 and 1999. Gloy was the 1984 Trans-Am Drivers' Champion and 1979 North American Formula Atlantic Drivers' Champion. His team has campaigned winning Trans-Am drivers such as Tony Kanaan, Juan Fangio, II, Dorsey Schroeder, Ron Fellows, Paul Newman, Boris Said, Brian Simo, Walter Payton, Josele Garza, Roger Penske, Jr., Butch Miller, Jeff Krosnoff, Norm Hunter, Bruce Jenner and Mike Borkowski. Gloy also raced on many different race circuits in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) Series.

The team will compete in the 12-race Trans-Am Series, which begins April 6, 2002 in Miami, Fla.
