HAYNER TO MAKE FULL-SEASON ASSAULT: Stu Hayner will contest the full BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series 1999 schedule, competing in the No. 58 Westward Ho Casino/Trenton Forging Chevrolet Camaro for While Lightning Racing. "I am really excited about this season," said Hayner. "Running the Trans-Am has been a long-time dream of mine. White Lightning is an outstanding team and it is a pleasure to be associated with them. Their entire crew, the race shop, engine program, and their car prep is right on and I know we can do well—1999 is definitely going to be a great year." Hayner, of Yorba Linda, Calif., made his Trans-Am debut in 1989 at Long Beach, finishing fifth. Last year Hayner made six starts, scoring his first series victory at Road America along with a second-place finish at Long Beach and third at Watkins Glen. Hayner has posted seven top-five finishes in 14 career Trans-Am starts. White Lightning Racing also expects to run a second car for the season, with announcements of the driver and sponsorship coming soon.
