Chris Holman to contest VW TDI CUP Shootout in Phoenix

Toronto, Ontario (March 24, 2008) -- Chris Holman has confirmed his participation in the VW TDI Cup shootout in Phoenix April 3-6, 2008.

"I am determined to build a career in motorsports and the TDI Cup series would be a great way to get started" said Chris from his base at Niagara College, where he will complete his diploma in Winemaking and Viticulture in late July. "It will be a challenge to juggle my academic schedule and the demands of a pro race series, but I am up to the task ".

VW received over 600 applications to attend the shootout and Chris was one of 28 Canadians to be invited. To earn the invite, he completed an application form outlining his credentials and created a 60 second video clip showcasing his media abilities.

The details of the shootout format will not be disclosed prior to the session, but Chris expects to complete a battery of evaluations ranging from physical fitness to driving to media performance. "I spend an hour a day in the gym and am in my best shape ever" explained Chris, "I expect to be in the top group come Sunday".

The TDI Cup shootout is Chris's second this year, having already contested the Skip Barber Karting Shootout in Sebring in January. He was in the top 20% of the group in lap times despite having by far the least seat time in the Skip Barber cars of the group average.
