Baja 500 -- To the podium in formation flight

Dear friends, partners and sponsors,

You've probably already read or heard that we achieved a double whammy with our AGM team at the Baja 500 during the first weekend in June. Martin Christensen and I managed to bring home second after 860 kilometres through the desert of Baja California. Our team mates Armin Kremer and Andreas Aigner climbed the podium in third in the coastal town of Ensenada on the Pacific. This is a fantastic achievement, even when it hurts a little that victory was right before our eyes. In the end, only 123 seconds separated us from the winner.

For me in the cockpit it was the best race by now, and that was mostly thanks to Armin Kremer who again gave a super performance. Around mile 99 to mile 225 we were in the lead, driving in formation through the desert. Sometimes Armin was ahead, sometimes us. That was fabulous: Even at 180 kph in Armin's dust, I wasn't a bit nervous. I know I can rely on Armin 100 percent.

He has the speed. That's why we can both go full tilt at the front. There was just one big moment and that was at race mile 185 on a dry lake bed in thick white dust. For a fraction the dust cleared and I caught a glimpse of Armin bearing down on us -- but everything turned out okay.

Around 15 miles before the driver change, at race mile 262, I overtook a Trophy Truck -- and in a narrow part, Armin couldn't squeeze past. I handed the Buggy over to Martin first, who brought the Buggy safely home to claim a podium place.

Andy Aigner drove the second stint in Armin's car, and with a podium result at his Baja debut, he did an excellent job. Andy got stuck with the Buggy just once. Luckily, All German Motorsports put together a huge logistics team for the Baja 500, with 65 people and several service vehicles on hand to help. So, it took only 5 minutes for an AGM truck to reach Andy and pull him out.

Our two racers were perfectly prepared and gave us no problems. My compliments and thanks to all team members at AGM for that. And I simply must say a huge thank you to my navigator Bryan Lyttle. Not only does Bryan guide me safely through the biggest trouble spots but also works a great deal for the team, calculating our fuel consumption before the race, taking care of the service stop logistics and the entire operation. I'm starting to think Bryan's is superhuman ...

In two weeks I'll get back to you with more news, particularly about our mega offroad event, the Baja 300 Powerdays Germany from 24th to 25th July in the Lausitz region of Germany. We have a sensational line up with top stars from the SCORE series, with former and reigning rally world champions, with freestyle and motocross aces. And from the MAN Dakar Truck to Trophy Trucks, Buggys, World Rally Cars through to electro-crossbikes -- we've got everything that's spectacular on gravel. Best regards,
    Armin Schwarz
