ATECH GRAND PRIX AND ATECH REID UNITE IN CARDIFF
Atech Reid GP anticipate the arrival of three '2010 model Formula Renault's. Announced this week by joint partners David Hayle and Anthony Reid, the further expansion of the team is creating a buzz in the area.
Atech Grand Prix has announced it will join the Atech Reid Superleague Formula by Sonangol outfit, which has been based in Cardiff for most of this season and race under one banner, Atech Reid Grand Prix.
The decision to relocate was not an easy decision for Team Principal David Hayle after being based at the Northamptonshire circuit with Atech and formerly Hitech for many years. However, the move will allow the team to grow even further as it undergoes extensive changes in its bid for more championship glory.
The new facility will also encompass Atech's design team, which is currently working on a number of new and exciting engineering projects.
"It wasn't an easy decision as we've been based here for many years however we have many new projects on the go and the time was right to move to bigger and better premises to allow us to keep the momentum going," said David. "The new facility is perfect for all the work we have underway and will ensure we can continue to maintain our high standards and determination to succeed."
The Atech GP team, started by Team Principal David Hayle, enjoyed considerable success in its first season in the Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship this season, winning five races and scoring 13 podium finishes and was a title contender up to the final round with Tamas Kiss. In Superleague Formula by Sonangol, Atech Reid, run by Anthony Reid netted nine wins, 20 podiums and finished fifth overall after leading much of the early part of the season with Yelmer Buurman and AC Milan.
At the announcement today, Anthony Reid commented: "We are now establishing ourselves as one joint race team. Having the Formula Renault cars come to Wales is just the next step in our journey."
The new cars will not be in Wales for long, as next Tuesday (7th December) Atech Reid GP are off to Spain, testing alongside their debutant Superleague Formula drivers.
