Podium finish for Sporting Clube de Portugal

Andy Soucek drove a superb first race to take the last spot on the podium at Brands Hatch this afternoon. The Spaniard bringing the Sporting Clube de Portugal car home in third position; A first for the club this season! Soucek, who has not raced competitively since November last year (2009) drove a fantastic race from start to finish, holding off team mate Yelmer Buurman, who came home in 4th.

"I am happy with 4th place as it gives me some really good points towards the championship, although we were overtaken in the championship points table." Yelmer stated. "This weekend is about the championship points and I have to focus on catching Dolby back in the reverse grid race. "

James Walker was one of the big movers in race one. He made some fantastic passing maneuvers to finish the race in 10th position for the Liverpool FC club.

"I was really charging through the pack and the car was good so I was able to do that." The Jersyman stated.

James was followed home closely by team mate Alvaro Parente, FC Porto. The Portuguese driver has been working hard with his engineers to get the pace he needs out of the FC Porto car this afternoon in time for the second race.

" We did not have the pace I was looking for in qualifying and we didn't have the pace I needed at the start of race one either. After the pit stop, with the newer set of tyres, the pace was better and the car felt better to drive." He said. "We will start race two closer to the front of the grid with 2 sets of new tyres to use for this race and be looking to get some points to qualify for the Super Final."

Alvaro may have not had the pace he was looking for on track to impress the men, but he has impressed the Superleague Formula grid girls, who voted him the best looking driver in the Superleague Formula championship this afternoon (good work Alvaro!)

PSV driver, Narain Karthikeyan did not finish the first race will start from the front of the grid in the second, reverse grid race. He will be looking to get the most out of the PSV Eindhoven car in the second race and get some more points on the board for the PSV Eindhoven football club.
