Superleague Formula stars light up Zandvoort

Superleague Formula by Sonangol stars Robert Doornbos and Yelmer Buurman entertained the crowds at Zandvoort last weekend with a number of demonstration runs at the famous Dutch circuit.

Superleague Formula by Sonangol stars Robert Doornbos and Yelmer Buurman entertained the crowds at Zandvoort last weekend with a number of demonstration runs at the famous Dutch circuit.

Buurman, who currently tops the Superleague Formula league table with AC Milan, wowed his home fans in his V12, 750bhp SF car carrying the Italian club’s famous Black and Red colours.

Doornbos, who races for Brazilian club Corinthians, got behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car and also drove a Minardi F1 two-seater with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Jan Peter Balkenende in the passenger seat.

The event was held as part of the Bavaria City Racing weekend which brought numerous crowd-pleasing events to the city of Rotterdam and its surrounding areas.

Both drivers will return to action next weekend as the Superleague Formula season resumes with a trip to Adria in Italy.
