PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star sprints have adjusted their schedule for the 2000 racing season, adding an event at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday, May 28. This marks the return to the third-mile oval for the first time since 1996 when Kelly Kinser won the Ohio Speedweek event there. Other past PRP winners include Mark Keegan in 1991 and 1993, Rocky Hodges in 1994 and Joey Saldana with two wins in 1995. When Earl Baltes announced his $1 million to win late model event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on October 7, this made necessary the move of the final All Star points race of the season at Eldora to Saturday night, Sept. 23. These two schedule changes are in addition to the announcement earlier this year of an added date at Mercer (PA) Raceway Park on Wed. June 7 as the opening event of the eighth annual Western Pa. Speedweek series. The All Stars swing back into action, following their successful eight race Florida series, on Saturday night, April 8 at Eldora Speedway for their Midwest opener. Supporting the All Star series this season are three corporate sponsors, TW Metals, Commercial Truck & Trailer and the General Motors Powertrain Division.
