J&J teams set to kick off 2002 season with Florida invasion
McKenzie, TN (January 20) - After a busy couple of months of assembling race cars and gathering all the necessary parts, several J&J Auto Racing teams will put the equipment to the test in Florida during the annual Florida Speedweeks.
Lance Dewease headlines the list of entries that will be using J&J equipment. Dewease, who won 20 features last year including the opener of the King of the 360's at East Bay last February, will begin his first full season behind the wheel of Al Hamilton's famous #77 J&J. The team will continue their assault on Florida soil after the four-day King of the 360's, which will be at East Bay Raceway (Gibsonton, FL) from January 30 - February 2, by competing with the All-Star Circuit of Champions.
The All-Star's will begin nine nights of action with an event at Putnam County Speedway on February 6 prior to four nights at Volusia Raceway Park (Feb. 7-10) near Daytona. The 26th annual East Bay Winternationals will conclu de Florida's Speedweek with four nights (Feb. 13-16) of racing on the 3/8-mile clay oval near Tampa.
Dewease is among the list of pre-entries for the King of 360's at East Bay, which also includes J&J runners: Defending ASCS Champion Terry Gray, ESS Champion Mike Woodring, and Curt Micheal in the Palladino #99 J&J. Legendary sprint car mechanic Doug Howells will also debut a new J&J with North Dakota driver Brad Pake.
Fred Rahmer, who won his fifth consecutive track championship at Lincoln (PA) Speedway Champion in 2001, will pilot Joe Harz's #88 J&J in the All-Star events along with All Star 2002 Rookie of the year candidate Bill Rose (#6 J&J), and 2001 WoO Gumout competitor Jeremy Campbell (#10c J&J).
"Everyone's excited to get things going with the season," said Jack Elam, President of J&J Auto Racing. "Our people in the shop have been working nonstop trying to get all of our customers taken care of. It's nice when we can see some of the hard work pay off for our teams on the track. We've got some great teams using our equipment, and we hope they all have great starts to their 2002 season."
