$200,000 On The Line for Ohio Speedweek

PONCE INLET, FL - The 17th annual Ohio Outlaw Sprint Speedweek, sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions, is right around the corner. The seven day, seven track series runs from Sunday, June 27 to Saturday, July 3 with the first five events paying $5,000 to win, with Friday's action paying $6,000 and the Saturday night finale paying $10,000. The top finishers in the week-long series points will also receive point fund monies. The prize money available for the week is over $200,000.

Action kicks off in Findlay at Bill Mead's Millstream Speedway on Sunday night. From there, teams head east to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio for round two on Monday, June 28. After a rainout last season, teams are anxious to race on the newly refurbished WCS 3/8-mile speedplant in the annual Pete Jacobs Memorial event. Then the action heads south to Ronnie Moran's Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville for the Tuesday, June 29 stop. A short tow awaits the traveling teams on Wednesday to the K-C Raceway in Alma, just south of Chillicothe for fast and furious action on the high-banked 3/8 mile oval. Thursday, it's off to the July 1 stop on the half-mile clay of Sharon Speedway in Hartford, a locale that finds the pits usually filled with the All Star regulars, plus many Western Pa. and Central Pa. drivers. The action moves back west to the beautiful quarter-mile Limaland Motorsports Park just west of Lima in Allentown on Friday, July 2, paying $6,000 to the winner of the 30-lap contest. The grand finale is slated for Attica Raceway Park on Saturday, July 3, with $10,000 plus the series championship on the line. The track promoters and All Star officials have worked hard this season to make the week of travel flow in a logical pattern, starting in Northwestern Ohio, moving east, then south, then over to Sharon and back to Lima and Attica.

Last season, Ohio Speedweek feature winners were Frankie Kerr (Millstream and Sharon), Kelly Kinser (Skyline), Joey Saldana (K-C), Kevin Huntley (Lima) and Dean Jacobs (Attica) with Kerr crowned the 1998 Ohio Speedweek champion.

Each night of this seventeenth Speedweek edition features a complete program of time trials, heat races, C, B and A mains plus a Commercial Truck and Trailer Dash, For more information, contact each individual race track, the All Stars at (904) 756-9225 or check the All Star web site at www.allstarsprint.com.

Historically, the top driver winning performances for the week include five wins by Sammy Swindell in 1990 and Steve Kinser in 1983, four victories by Kinser in 1984, and three wins by Kevin Huntley in 1992, Swindell in 1991, Dave Blaney in 1989, Doug Wolfgang in 1987 and Jack Hewitt in 1985.
