Blonde from Litchfield Dusts The Ditch Field

WEST MEMPHIS, AR (8-17-07) -- The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions were back in action on Friday night as the Thunder Through the Plains tour resumed at Riverside International Speedway, more commonly referred to as "The Ditch". Chad Blonde, who missed the two Thunder shows earlier in the week, towed all the way from Litchfield, MI to put on a dominating performance much like the one at Hilltop Speedway during Ohio Sprint Speedweek. A field of 26 cars were on hand at the storied 1/4 mile bullring on the banks of the Mississippi River, but it was the orange #5B who would show the way to the checkers for his third All Star victory.

Blonde started the A-main from the 3rd row and by lap six was putting a slider on race leader Lee Sowell, which caused Sowell to get into the fence flattening his right rear tire. On the restart it was Blonde followed by Jeff Swindell, Greg Wilson, Brandon Martin, AJ Bruns, and Tim Montgomery. A few more laps into the event, Paul May slammed head on into the turn one fence bringing out the red. It was an extended delay as track workers had to repair the fence.

Action resumed with Blonde and Swindell battling for the lead, but Blonde pulled out front and into lapped traffic and drove away from the field. In the closing laps of the 30 lap affair, Swindell would make one last attempt to reel Blonde in through heavy traffic, but was not able to get close enough to contend for the win. Blonde crossed the stripe ahead of Swindell, Wilson, Bruns, Danny Smith (who started 15th), and Montgomery.

The All Stars return to The Ditch for night number two on Saturday August 18th to wrap up the Thunder Through the Plains week and will head back to Ohio. For more information visit www.allstarsprint.com
