MECHANICSBURG, PA, 7/11/03 - Greg Hodnett and the red rocket just keep on winning.

This time it was against the All Star Circuit of Champions at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night. One that made up for the one that got away in Florida.

"We may be holding the secret pill that has the magic set-up," Hodnett explain upon beating the All Star Circuit of Champions after losing $10,000 earlier in the year in Florida. "But it can fall out of your pocket and somebody else will pick it up...we know it's not going to last, but we're going to ride it as long as we can."

Third-starting Hodnett slipped under polesitter and race-long leader Lance Dewease in the first and second turns on the eighth lap and then checked-out from the rest of the field to pick up his fifth win over the past six races at Williams Grove Speedway.

Hodnett opened up a straight-away lead with 10 laps to go and diced his way through lapped traffic the rest of the way to take the $5,000 win by 3.66 seconds when it was all said and done.

"These guys do a great job chasing the race track," said Hodnett on his Apple Motorsports Cars-by-Dealers No.12 crew. "We made a lot of changes along the way...not just little changes either."

"It's hard work and the guys are doing a great job for us."

"This is really a tough circuit for us to run here in Pennsylvania," said Hodnett. "We're just so fortunate to have a great car, car owner, Bob Stewart and Apple Motorsports...it's just all seeming to come together."

Dewease ran second the rest of the way with fifth-starting Keith Kauffman running third after passing fourth-starting Donnie Kreitz Jr. on the 10th lap for the spot and held it the rest of the way.

A battle was being waged behind top-three with Kreitz, Chad Kemenah and Fred Rahmer swapping fourth, fifth and sixth several times over the middle stages of the race.

Following the race's only caution on the 16th lap for a stopped Mark Smith on the backstretch, Rahmer shot around Kemenah into fourth on the 18th lap. Kreitz followed suit on the same lap, and then got around Rahmer for fourth with 10 laps to go.

Kemenah then passed Rahmer to move into fifth on the 21st lap while Hodnett opened up his largest lead of the race over Dewease and Kauffman. Then with three laps to go Rahmer got around the All Star point leader to move back into the top-five.

Then all eyes turn to 410 rookie Chad Layton as he had come from his distant 15th starting spot and passed a fading Kemenah in the final laps and then Rahmer at the checkered to finish fifth.

Rahmer, Todd Shaffer, Sean Michael, fast time trialer Todd Hestor and then Kemenah completed the top-10.

The win was Hodnett's 14th of 2003 and was also his 19th career win at the historic Mechanicsburg half-mile, placing him into a four-way tie for 17th on the all-time win list with Tommy Hinnershitz, Jan Opperman, and Stevie Smith.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Curt Michael, the B&B Products heat went to Todd Shaffer, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Len Thompson and the TP Wings heat fell to Greg Hodnett. The United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main fell to Chad Layton while Curt Michael captured the Haulmark Dash. Todd Hestor was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier over the 40-car field with a one-lap time of 17.070 seconds (105.448 MPH).
