KNOXVILLE, IOWA (JULY 27, 2002) - Wade Aunger of Brandy Hill, New South Wales, Australia, will lead this year's Australian National Sprintcar Poll (ANSP) award recipients who will be honored on Friday, August 9, during the Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals. The thirty-year old media member and World Series Sprintcars (WSS) sanctioning official is the youngest-ever recipient of the poll's "Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award" and he will be present to accept the accolades.

The native Western Australian spent the 2001/2002 racing season 'Down Under' working with the World of Outlaws-like WSS tour as announcer and marketing director, and performing similar duties at his 'home track', Newcastle Speedway. In the years prior to his WSS involvement, he worked at the Parramatta City Raceway near Sydney and the Claremont Speedway in Perth. He is also a three-time ANSP "Media Member of the Year" for his work in television, radio and print.

Other ANSP award winners for 2001/2002 are WSS champion driver/owner Max Dumesny and his team of Darryl "Mouse" Green and Tony Landrigan, rookie Adrian Redpath, WSS promoter David Lander, Oval Express journalists Jon Evans and Phil Jordison, PRC builder/manufacturer Ken Veal, and "Wild Cards" Drew Kruck and Donny Schatz.

The Australian National Sprintcar Poll is an official awards program of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, USA. The awards will be presented on the same night, August 9, as the Kele World Challenge international invitational featuring the best qualified sprint car drivers of Australia, Canada, and the United States.
