Dupuy Dazzles in ASCS Regional Showdown at Southern Raceway
MILTON, Fla. (May 12, 2007) -- The American Sprint Car Series invaded Southern Raceway for the first time on Saturday night and it was Louisiana's Michael Dupuy racing to a $2,000 victory in the curfew-shorted ASCS Coastal vs. Rebel Region 15-lap feature event.
After a couple of starts were waved off, Dupuy set sail from the front row and paced the field all the way aboard David Kountz' No. k12 Eagle to post his second ASCS Coastal Region win of the season and extend his series point lead.
Lane Whittington snared runner-up honors, with Terry Vidrine taking the show position nearly a straightaway behind the lead duo. After starting from the pole position, Terry Gray recovered from an opening lap spin and sliced through the field to finish fourth.
T.J. Winegardner took over the ASCS Rebel Region point lead by rounding out the top five, with Michael Herrington, Matt Tiffany, Timmy Thrash, Michael Miller and Brian Thomas completing the top ten.
Matt Linder, Vidrine and Shane Morgan topped heat race action.
