Dow Corning/Kaman Industrial Technologies CVRA Mini Sprint Challenge

Sodus, New York - Bruce Richards, Champlain Valley Racing Association (CVRA) promoter, and Fred Kaempffe, owner of Branich Motorsports, announced this week finalization of race dates for the 2000 Dow Corning/Kaman Industrial Technologies CVRA Mini Sprint Challenge Cup. Patterned after the successful 1999 Six Gun Shootout which was promoted by Branich Motorsports, the CVRA Challenge Cup will feature three special mini sprint events at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Malta, NY, and at Devil's Bowl Speedway, Fair Haven, Vt. Sanctioned by Central New York Mini Sprints, Inc. (CNYMS), the "tour within the [CNYMS] tour" will have its own series point fund. By sponsoring the series, Dow Corning and Kaman Industrial Technologies have renewed their commitment to mini sprint racing in the northeast, as both companies sponsored the Six Gun Shootout in 1999. Dow Corning, of Midland, Michigan, is a worldwide supplier of a full line of adhesive sealants and specialty lubricants. Dow is teaming up with Kaman, one of its major distributors, to sponsor the points fund. Kaman is one of North America's largest distributors of bearing, power transmission, fluid power, linear motion, materials handling and electric drive items. Operating from 190 branch locations, Kaman is recognized as a premier solutions provider in the industrial marketplace. Two of the Kaman branches are within a stone's throw of the CVRA facilities, as one is in Glens Falls, NY, and the other in Latham, NY. The series will open up Memorial Day weekend, when mini sprint teams will travel to the Devil's Bowl for a race on Sunday, May 28th. The remaining two races will be at the Malta facility. The teams will visit Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Friday, June 7th, and the series finale will be held on Friday, July 28th. Negotiations continue with several companies for race night sponsorship at each of the facilities. Should the sponsorship materialize, it is anticipated that each feature race will pay $650 to win, and $75 to take the green flag, based on a 24 car field. Several contingency sponsors have committed to the series. Dow Corning will supply specialty lubricant products to each race winner. As a product support sponsor for all CNYMS sanctioned events, Seymore Enterprises (Marlboro, Massachusetts) will provide a gift certificate to the highest finisher in each race who has not already won a certificate. Bicknell Racing Products (Niagara Falls, NY), in conjunction with Hoosier Racing Tires (Lakeville, Indiana), will provide a prize to the series Hard Charger. The series is open to 1200 cc as well as 750 cc powered machines, and there will be a $50 bonus to the first 750 across the finish line in the feature. Both CVRA tracks are premier facilities and are well suited to mini sprint racing. During the 1999 season, Albany-Saratoga Speedway boasted the highest car counts of all the stops on the CNYMS tour, with over 25 cars at each race. Racing was quick, competitive and exciting. The Challenge Cup will feature the same, as it is expected to attract mini sprint racers from all over the northeast. The race entry fee will be $35 per car for all drivers holding a valid mini sprint license (CNYMS, AMSA, Outlaw Mini Sprints, etc.). All non-qualifiers will receive $25 in tow money. CNYMS rules will apply to all race events.
