Empire Super Sprint Tour 2002 heads East with Friday visit to Albany-Saratoga on June 7th..
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In bucking with the quote, "Go west young man!" The stars and cars of the Empire Super Sprint Tour 2002 head east on the New York State Thruway to make the first of two visits to the Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Friday night June 7th. The 1/3rd mile oval located in Malta, N.Y. has produced some of the wildest ESS action over the years and this event will be no different.
Heading the list of entries will be Dan Kaszubinski who has visited victory lane once over the last four years at the Richards family promoted oval. Although Kaszubinski will miss some shows in 2002 with a recent purchase of a new house, he will be in the field looking to make it a five year stretch. The early season events so far have seen top drivers such as Lance Yonge, Mike Woodring, Bubby Kerrick, Kyle Drum and Brian Dumigan atop the points standings and all five will be in the pits as well. Surprisingly, only Yonge has stood in victory lane at Albany-Saratoga over the years so there's a good chance that a new winner could surface.
Local drivers John Karklin Jr., Dick Spadaro and Warren Alexson all like the Eastern visit by ESS as many of their fans can attend to see if they can bring home the top prize in the 20 lap A-Main. For Alexson it will be even more rewarding as he will sponsor the night's Walt's Hobby Dash with his Warren's Auto Body business located in nearby Duanesburg, N.Y.
Three Brodix Cylinder Heads heat events as well as the KSE Racing Products B-Main will join the dash in events leading up to the finale that will reward the winner with nearly $2000 in cash and bonuses.
Sprint fans can expect a field of over 30 of the winged machines to join the card of CVRA small block modifieds. It will be a night of speed and action--it will be excitement guaranteed!!!!
