Empire Super Sprints to Celebrate Mothers Day at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Its been nearly three years since the Empire Super Sprints have trekked around the 3/8ths mile oval known as the Cayuga County Fair Speedway (CCFS) in Weedsport, N.Y. All that will change on Sunday, May 8th when the winged warriors will make its return on a special Mothers Day program to help celebrate the track's Golden Anniversary. It's billed as a "Mothers Day Night Out" as the stars and cars of ESS will join the DIRT sportsman and street stocks for a very special evening.
The event looks to kick off the 22nd season for ESS and a big field of sprinters will fill the pits for the first event towards the ESS Tour 2005 championship. It will also be a historic event as it marks the first time ESS will showcase a full point show for the new DIRT MotorSports sanctioning body. With the efforts of both Chris Grundy and Tom Skibinski, the return to CCFS was made possible. A special 4 P.M. start time has also been established.
Defending title holder Lance Yonge will lead a brigade of sprinters in hopes of a repeat championship, but top and local stars such as Dan Kaszubinski, Doug Emery, Bob Podolak and a host of others will be in full force looking to bring home the checkered flag.
The ESS Tour 2005 is now 30 races strong with a few more dates expected. Fans at Utica-Rome, Autodrome's Granby and Drummond, Brockville, Cornwall, Can-Am, Albany-Saratoga, Five Mile Point, Ohsweken, Rolling Wheels, Merrittville, Knoxville, Black Rock, Frogtown and Little Valley will see the very best of "America's Race Cars". The tentative schedule is now on the ESS website, www.empiresupersprints.com with the official schedule looking to be released mid-February.
Sunday, May 8th, bring mom to the races for a good ole' fashion sprint car shootout. It's the Empire Super Sprints at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds and it will be excitement guaranteed!!
