Empire Super Sprint Board of Directors Meeting Held: Opening Race Handicap Changes/President and Vice President Appointed.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Empire Super Sprint (ESS) board of directors and officials held a very successful four hour meeting in Schenectady, N.Y. to get ready for the upcoming 2005 Tour. A new draw system for the opening tour race was developed while Chuck Miller and Dean Reynolds have been named President and Vice President respectively.

New for the start of the 22nd Anniversary season will be a full draw in the heats to all full member ESS teams with rookies and temporary members starting behind. The top 12 from the heats will then re-draw for the 25 lap A-Main with the rest filled in strait down from the heats and B-Main. Provisional starters will come from points and inversion eligible drivers from the 2004 season. The second event will see the normal ESS handicap system take place. The ESS tour 2005 is scheduled to kick off Sunday, May 8th at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway.

With the retirement of the long-time President Dick Carbery, Chuck Miller has now bee appointed ESS President for 2005, a position held by Miller back in the early 90's. The Oswego, N.Y. resident begins his second decade with the highly successful 360 sprint car sanctioning body and will continue to run the race program from the tower in which he has done for many years. Miller also provides all the information for track announcers as well as keeping the point standings and all the handicap systems up to date from race to race.

Dean Reynolds will enter his 13th season with ESS and while the Vice-President title is new, he will continue to do the Public Relations and Sponsorship programs for the club. New for the North Syracuse, N.Y. resident is putting together the 2005 schedule and will now be the contact with Promoters. Carbery will continue to aid Reynolds with the scheduling in the off-season.

Sylvain Mercier has been a big help to all in ESS over the past few years and now will be recognized at the Canadian Representative for ESS. The likeable man from Gatineau, Quebec who speaks fluent French and English has been a very strong asset at all tracks located north of the border.

ESS will have a complete booth at the Car Quest Motorsports Expo in Syracuse, N.Y. on March 11-13 and teams can sign up there with ESS representatives who will be on hand all three days. Fans will be able to view the Maxim built sprinters of 2004 Champion Lance Yonge, Mike Stelter and 2003 rookie of the year Nick Fratto. The new schedule cards as well as the Tour 2005 T-Shirts will be on hand.
