KNOXVILLE, IOWA (NOV. 16, 2001) - Canadian Warren Mahoney, Australian David Murcott, and New Zealander Gregory Pickerill are the three finalists for the 2002 Knoxville International Driver Development (KIDD) ride at the Knoxville Raceway. One of the three drivers will be given the opportunity of a lifetime to pilot a Gaerte-powered J&J Auto Racing 410 c.i. sprint car under the guidance of former Knoxville Nationals- winning owner/mechanic Bob Trostle at Knoxville during the 2002 season. The successful candidate will be named at the National Sprint Car Poll Awards Reception at the Indianapolis Westin on Thursday evening, November 29, in conjunction with the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show.

According to KIDD program founder Roger Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., "The decisions involved in narrowing the twelve candidates down to the three finalists were extremely difficult to make for the selection committees, and my hat is off to committee members Graeme Hose of the Premier Speedway in Australia, Willie Kay of the Western Springs Speedway in New Zealand, Peter Turford of the Southern Ontario Sprints in Canada, and Tom Schmeh of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa. And I want to thank all of the applicants for their participation in this unique first-year effort!"

Among the KIDD program sponsors for '02 are J&J Auto Racing, Gaerte Engines, Sander Engineering, Lev Wings and Pro-Shocks.
