From Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley . . . . By Than Mitchell

Jeff Furlong led one lap at the Greenwood Valley Action Track on Saturday night and it was the one that mattered. After chasing Brian Kishbaugh in the Regular Micro Sprint Feature and trying to pass high and low, Furlong finally pulled it off, passing the Nescopeck resident in the last half lap. Furlong, who lives in Selinsgrove, thanked his car owner and burly pit crew, then offered special thanks to his father, Jay, for sticking with him through the tough times. Finishing behind Furlong and Kishbaugh was Eric Eckert, Bristol. In fourth place was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and fifth was Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos. Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, came in sixth, Nick Lannan, Montoursville, seventh, and Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg, was eighth. A.J. Walters, Bloomsburg, was ninth and Henry Schlegal managed a tenth place finish.

In Rookie Micro Sprint action, Eric Eckert, Bristol, chalked up his third victory of the year and said that he was switching to the regular micro division next year. (He then served notice by racing in the evening's Regular Micro Sprint Feature, finishing third.) Second to Eckert was Jason Wagner, third was Brian Wawroski from Bloomsburg and fourth was Kyle Purks, Langhorne. In the fifth spot was C.J. Jones, sixth was Jason Kolva, seventh was Jason Wagner and Roger Asay, Ithaca, NY, managed eighth. Ninth across the line was John Roberts, Millville, and A.J. Bast, Tower City was tenth.

Next week at Greenwood Valley the activities will get underway earlier to try to beat the cold that creeps in as winter approaches. Gates will open at 2:00, warm-ups get underway at 4:30, and racing at 5:00. See you at the Greenwood Valley Action Track located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just off route 254.
