TULSA, Okla. (June 16, 2008) -- Closing in on the season's midway point, the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region is set for another pair of south Texas events this weekend with the Seventh Annual Texas vs. Louisiana Challenge.

Seventeen-year-old Channin Tankersley of Highlands, TX, who topped the series most recent event in Beaumont, is 92 points out of the lead in fourth, with defending series champion Brandon Berryman of Missouri City, TX, just four points behind Tankersley in fifth. Berryman topped the series last outing at Houston Raceway Park and then added a second win in the series most recent event at Cleveland's 105 Speedway on June 7.
