April showers wash out Hesston Speedway racing.

Hesston, PA -- Rain checks will be honored for two weeks following the second Hesston Speedway rainout in the first three races Saturday night.

Promoters Butch and Linda Grubb expected a very competitive first points race with good fields of cars and eager drivers in all four regular divisions, but a steady rain before intermission dampened everyone's hopes.

Two of four heat races and a consi in the Chet Grove's Cars Unlimited Hobby Stocks remained to be raced when the rain began and washed out the Goshorn Racing Supply Trophy Night.

Next Saturday, May 4, is the Huston Ford Trophy Night with the bi-weekly Hesston Speedway PA 305 Sprints back to join the weekly Shellbrook Stables Limited Late Models, Grubb Lumber V-8 Street Stock, Goshorn Racing Supply Four-Cylinder Pure Stock and Chet Grove's Cars Unlimited V-8 Hobby Stock divisions.

"We had a fast track, a lot of new cars in the pits and a good crowd and we are just sorry Mother Nature did not cooperate," Butch Grubb said. "On the sunny side, this gives a few teams with problems an extra week to finish their cars before the points races start."

Linda Grubb noted that gates open at 5 p.m. and heat races start promptly at 7 p.m. every Saturday. She added that the track's new Internet website includes a complete schedule and race results at www.hesstonspeedway.com.

In two weeks the Chet Grove's Cars Unlimited Race Night May 11 features a 20-lap special race for the Cars Unlimited Hobby Stocks.

The Hesston Speedway is located just north of Route 26 opposite to the Seven Points access to Lake Raystown. It's about five miles south of Route 22 in Huntingdon and 45 miles north on Routes 30W and 26 from the Breezewood Exit 12 of the PA Turnpike. For information call the track at 814-658-2823.
