Hull Ready for the Road with ASCS on Tour in '06
TULSA, Okla. (September 15, 2005) -- Following the American Sprint Car Series' recent announcement to go truly "national" in 2006 with an expanded schedule and increased purses, driver response and interest has bordered upon overwhelming.
And among the first of a talented crop of drivers to commit to the ASCS on Tour in 2006 is Sikeston, MO, hotshoe Jerrod Hull.
"I think this is the right time to get out there and challenge myself while being able to add additional exposure for my sponsors, advertisers, and product support people," Hull commented in a press release issued by Jerrod Hull Motorsports.
"We are planning to take on some of the most challenging stars of sprint car racing at some of the most exciting venues in the country," Hull continued. "This has been something I have wanted to do for awhile, and we feel that now is the right time to bump up our program. Our 360 program has been awesome this year and we are looking forward to improving upon the success we have had in 2005."
A former Illinois Speedweek champion and Jacksonville, IL, track champion, the 29-year-old Hull has accumulated more than 50 feature wins over the past four years, including 13 victories thus far in 2005.
Hull will be among a number of top talents chasing the ASCS on Tour in 2006, which is expected to include 50-60 events at the nation's premier Sprint Car racing venues. The standard one-day purse for the American Sprint Car Series on Tour in 2006 will offer $4,000 to win the main event, with $500 for all feature starters. The increased pay will be filtered back throughout the field, with tenth place earning $1,000.
The series will also feature a lucrative $150,000 point fund, with $50,000 earmarked for the season champion. Tow money for top series regulars will also be part of the event purse package.
Since its inception in 1992, the American Sprint Car Series has evolved into the nation's most prominent 360-ci Sprint Car series with more than 1,500 engines nationwide utilizing the Brodix-developed ASCS spec head.
In addition to the current National Tour, the ASCS is also comprised of the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain, Midwest and Southern Regions. It was also recently announced that the Michigan-based Sprints On Dirt (SOD) will join the ASCS family in 2006.
