LINCOLN SPEEDWAY Abbottstown, Pa.

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 10/9/99 - Rain moving into the Hanover, Pa., area earlier than expected forced Lincoln Speedway officials to postpone Saturday evening ’s October 9th 3rd Annual Kenny Weld Memorial.

After waiting out intermittent rain showers earlier in the evening, and with a forecast of more rain through Sunday, officials decided to re-schedule the entire Weld Memorial racing program for this Friday, October 15th at 7:30 PM. With the postponement, the Miller Brothers Thundercar Point Championship Series has officially ended with McSherrystown’s Bobby Beard claiming his first-ever Lincoln Speedway track championship.

Lincoln Speedway will now close out it’s 1999 racing season with its two biggest races of the year on consecutive nights - the Kenny Weld and Bobby Abel Memorials.

So this Friday night, October 15th, it will be the 3rd Annual Kenny Weld Memorial featuring the super sprints and thundercars. The super sprints will be racing 40 laps for over $26,000 in prize money which includes lap and contingency monies. Gates will open at 5 PM, with time trials slated for 7:30 PM.

Then on Saturday night, October 16th, it will be the 5th Annual Bobby Abel Memorial featuring all three regular Lincoln Speedway divisions - the super sprints, 358 sprints and thundercars. The super sprints will be racing 30 laps, with the winner taking home $3,000 plus lap money.

Miller Brothers Chevrolet/Oldsmobile of Ellicott City, MD, has joined with Lincoln Speedway to present Saturday’s race, the last of the millennium in the Pigeon Hills. The finale will include fireworks, extra prize money for the thundercars, a cash dash for the sprinters which will also include $100 for a lucky fan, and a special pre-race appearance by sprint driver Cris Eash and the specially-decorated car of Bobby Beard, which will be driven by Kenny Slaybaugh (who will also be on hand to meet with the fans).

UPCOMING SHOWS:

Fri., Oct 15 - 7:30 PM THIRD ANNUAL KENNY WELD MEMORIAL - Super Sprints (40 laps) & Thundercars (Time Trials @ 7:30 PM)

Sat., Oct. 16 - 7:30 PM 5TH ANNUAL BOBBY ABEL MEMORIAL - Super Sprints (30 laps), 358 Sprints & Thundercars - FINAL RACE OF SEASON
