Abbottstown, PA (June 19, 1999) - Fred Rahmer won his eighth race of the season at Lincoln Speedway tonight. Rahmer took his 82nd career win at the Pigeon Hill's oval after passing Cris Eash on a lap 18 restart, sailing home easily with a half a straightaway lead.

The front row of Brian Montieth and Bobby Weaver lined up for the first start but Jeff Rohrbough tangled with Don Kreitz, sending Rohrbough's No. 07 into Enola, Pennsylvania's Billy Sims in turn one. Both Rohrbough and Sims flipped ending their evening early. Neither driver was injured. Krietz made repairs during the red flag and continued.

Montieth, who lost power on the start, pulled into the pits. When Bobby Weaver reported to the pits, Shawn Weaver took over the pole with Dave Haight alongside.

The next start produced another red flag when Jesse Wentz nudged Dan Jones causing Wentz to drop anchor. As the field dodged the No. 2w of Wentz, James Chesson found his path blocked, hitting the inside guardrail which sent the car into a slow motion flip.

Third time's the charm, right?

Wrong.

This time it was Eash, Steve Siegel and Greg Hodnett clashing in turn three before the first lap could be recorded. Eash and Siegel continued while Hodgett changed a tire before rejoining the field at the rear.

The race finally got under way after four waves of the green flag. Dave Haight led the first lap after polesitter Shawn Weaver pulled a huge wheelie at the drop of the green.

Eash passed Haight on lap two and started to pull away when the yellow came out for Johnny Mackison's spin on the front stretch. With two laps complete Eash led followed by Haight, Jeff Shepard, Shawn Weaver, Jesse Wentz and Fred Rahmer in sixth.

When green flag racing resumed, Rahmer found the low groove to his liking while Eash and Shepard ran the high side at the front. Twelve laps were recorded before the yellow appeared when P. J. Chesson stopped on the back straight.

With 14 laps complete Eash lined up with second and third, Shepard and Rahmer, directly behind him. Rahmer used the restart and the bottom groove to pass Shepard through turns one and two. Meanwhile Eash cruised comfortably in the lead. The No. 17e car of Eash was performing well and Rahmer was unable to close the gap.

Rahmer got the break he needed when Billy Dietrich spun in turn three causing the last yellow of the race. With Eash's car running strong all night long, Rahmer would have to prove why he's one of the top sprint car drivers in the country. He was only too happy to give a demonstration.

When green replaced yellow, Eash moved to the center lane in hopes of keeping Rahmer at bay. Rahmer stayed on the gas, putting the car on the cushion, getting a good run on Eash's No. 17e. when Eash slid high out of turn two, Rahmer pointed his Al Hamilton owned No. 77 underneath Eash, completing the pass on the back straight.

"We got lucky," said Rahmer. "We got a restart and got around Cris. I knew if I went to the bottom, Shepard was going to roll around the top. I figured it would be a flyer getting into turn three (for the lead) because I knew I couldn't beat him on the exit. It all worked out."

Sean Michael padded his points lead by claiming his third win in a row and fifth of the season in the 25-lap URC feature. Heats for the 36 United Racing Club Series sprinters on hand were won by Fred Kennedy, Danny Jones, Greg Coverdale and Pursell. Kramer Williamson won the consolation after missing his heat when a crew member was injured in the pits.
