Abbottstown, PA (April 21, 2001) -- Fred Rahmer won the 25-lap feature event at Lincoln Speedway tonight, extending his current win streak to three. Rahmer kicked off the 2001 season by winning the first three races at Lincoln Speedway, a streak ended by Lance Dewease on March 31.
"We were a little better than last week and hopefully we'll get a little better next week," said Rahmer, who has scored victories in six out of the seven races held at Lincoln.
Polesitter Glendon Forsythe led the first 13 laps despite several caution periods negating huge leads over Darren Eash, who started second. As Forsythe entered the last set of turns to complete lap 14; he slowed noticeably, allowing Darren Eash and Rahmer to take the first two positions.
Two laps later, Forsythe's evening was over after making contact with the turn four wall.
Prior to Forsythe's mishap in turn four, Rahmer and Eash treated fans to three laps of the most intense racing seen at Lincoln Speedway this season. Rahmer tried everything in the book against the ever-widening car of Eash. Just as Rahmer nosed ahead, the red flag was shown for Forsythe, sending Rahmer back to second for the restart.
With 16 laps in the book, Eash lined up at the point, followed by Rahmer, P.J. Chesson, Bobby Weaver and Cris Eash in fifth.
Rahmer followed Eash closely on the restart. As they entered turn three, Rahmer made his move down low, sailing off turn four with a comfortable lead. Rahmer led lap 17 and never looked back.
Darren Eash earned a solid second place finish after exhibiting some of his most polished driving since returning to the 410s. Second through fifth finishing positions were filled by the Brothers Chesson and Eash. P.J. Chesson followed Darren across the line by in third. Cris Eash was fourth, followed by Jamie's younger brother James in fifth.
Lincoln Speedway swings back into action next Saturday night, April 28 at 7 p.m. with another three division show featuring the super sprints, 358 sprints, and thundercars. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m., and the first heat getting underway at 7 p.m.
