Inaugural ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region Event Sunday at Susky!

TULSA, Okla. (April 9, 2007) -- There will be history in the making this Sunday night as the American Sprint Car Series fires to life for the first time in the state of Pennsylvania with the inaugural ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region event at Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown, PA.

The $1,500-to-win event marks the first of a half-dozen ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region events atop the semi-banked, 4/10-mile clay oval in Central Pennsylvania. The track will also host several "local" ASCS Mid-Atlantic events over the course of the 2007 season.

A stout field of cars is expected as the inaugural ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region championship points races gets under way. The event will also serve as an appetizer for the upcoming O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series event, which will bring the likes of Gary Wright, Jason Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Travis Rilat, Darren Stewart, Garry Lee Maier and more to Susquehanna Speedway Park on May 24.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, with heat races set to go green at 6:00 p.m.

Susquehanna Speedway Park is located in Newberrytown, PA, off I-83 Exit 32, then 1.4 miles northwest on State Road 382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. For more information, contact the track at 717-938-9170.

The inaugural ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region slate currently consists of 16 nights of championship points events throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding area along with seven Local shows.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
