ASCS Midwest Region Debuts at NRP's I-80 Speedway Friday Night

TULSA, Okla. (April 11, 2005) -- There's a new game in town for the Midwestern portion of the country, and race fans can watch the action unfold this Friday night as the American Sprint Car Series all-new Midwest Region debuts at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway.

The addition of the ASCS Midwest Region in 2005, along with the Southern Tour, brings the number of ASCS regions to five with the new pair of regions joining the existing Gulf South, Sooner and Rocky Mountain Regions. These are in addition to the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, among the nation's elite touring Sprint Car series.

Friday's Midwest Region debut atop I-80's semi-banked, 4/10-mile dirt oval is expected to draw a talented field of entries from Nebraska and the surrounding states. Among those leading the Cornhusker contingent are expected to be Rick Ideus, Mike Chadd, Chad Humston, Seth Brahmer, Toby Chapman, Jeff Lowery, Mikey Gabelhouse and Doug Lovegrove.

The 'Husker shoes will defend their home turf from the likes of Show-Me-Staters Brian Brown and Kerry Grabill, South Dakota racers Jake Peters, Dusty Zomer and Chuck Swenson, Iowa's Frankie Heimbaugh, Joe Beaver and Bobby Mincer, Kansan Jason Martin and O'Reilly ASCS National Tour contenders Tony Bruce, Jr., of Liberal, KS, and Natalie Sather of Fargo, ND.

Nearly 40 entries are expected for Friday night's inaugural ASCS Midwest Region event at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway. Hot laps are set for 7:00 p.m., with racing action slated to get under way at 7:45 p.m.
