ASCS Midwest Region Ready for Open Wheel Thunder at Park Jefferson
TULSA, Okla. (June 27, 2005) -- The American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region is staged for Round Three of 2005 action as the series takes to Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, SD, for Open Wheel Thunder on Monday night, July 4.
With two events already in the books, Grain Valley, MO, ace Brian Brown holds a slim lead in the series championship points race, sitting just four points ahead of Lincoln, NE, hotshoe Billy Alley entering the event.
Brown and Alley have plenty of contenders for the ASCS Midwest Region point lead, including Sioux Falls, SD, racer Jake Peters, who is just twelve points off the pace in third. Lincoln's Don Droud, Jr., enters the event ranked fourth in points, with Liberal, KS, shoe Jason Martin rounding out the current top five.
Completing the current top ten in ASCS Midwest Region points are Mike Chadd (Liberal, KS), Toby Chapman (Lincoln, NE), Kerry Grabill (St. Joseph, MO), Rick Ideus (Roca, NE) and Chad Humston (Giltner, NE).
Terry McCarl topped a 46-car field in the series inaugural event at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway on April 15, while Eagle, NE, racer Jason Danley topped a tough field at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, on May 27.
Monday night's action atop the semi-banked, half-mile Park Jefferson Speedway dirt oval is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m. Park Jefferson Speedway is located in Jefferson, SD, off I-29 Exit 4, then 0.2 mile east to SR 105, then 1.8 miles north. For more information, contact the track at 605-966-5517 or 712-261-0606.
The 2005 slate for the ASCS Midwest Region consists of 11 nights of racing at seven different tracks throughout, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota and Iowa.
In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction more than 100 nights of racing in 2005 at approximately 50 different racetracks throughout at least 16 different states.
