ASCS Midwest Region Preliminary Schedule Released
TULSA, Okla. (February 16, 2005) -- The American Sprint Car Series expands to the Nebraska and Western Missouri area in 2005, as a preliminary schedule for the all-new Midwest Region was released today.
Nebraska speedplants in Greenwood and McCool Junction as well as Missouri ovals in Cameron and Grain Valley will each host points-paying events, while the two-night non-points Brodix Tournament of Champions at Knoxville Raceway extends the current race tally to ten.
The ASCS Midwest Region will debut on April 15 at the high-speed, 4/10-mile Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood. The Midwest Region makes a return to NRP on July 8 for the Lawrence Ideus Memorial, then joins forces with the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores on Wednesday night, August 3.
The ASCS will make its first appearance at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, on May 27, as the Midwest Region takes to the semi-banked 3/8-mile dirt oval. The Midwest shoes then take on the ASCS National Tour at McCool Junction on Wednesday night, July 20.
The lightning-fast 3/8-mile US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO, hosts a combined ASCS Midwest Region / National Tour event two nights later on July 22, then is slated to host the Midwest Region again on September 9.
Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO, is set to host the Summer Heat Shootout on July 23, which will feature the ASCS Midwest Region along with the ASCS National Tour, wrapping up three nights of Midwest Region vs. National Tour action through Nebraska and Missouri.
Additional dates are under discussion and will be added in coming weeks.
The American Sprint Car Series is the nation's premier 360-ci Sprint Car sanctioning body. With the addition of the Southern Tour and Midwest Region in 2005 to the existing National Tour and Sooner, Gulf South and Rocky Mountain Regions, the ASCS will sanction approximately 120 racing events in 2005 at approximately 50 different racetracks throughout at least 15 different states.
