I-80 Speedway Tries ASCS Shootout Again on Friday!
TULSA, Okla. (April 14, 2008) -- The American Sprint Car Series Midwest and Northern Plains Regions are set to try opening the 2008 season once again with Friday night's showdown atop Nebraska Raceway Park's 4/10-mile I-80 Speedway clay oval in Greenwood, NE, this Friday night.
The two ASCS Regional series were originally scheduled to take to I-80 Speedway this past weekend for two nights of action. But inclement weather dictated otherwise, delaying the lid lifter one week and reducing it to a one night event with several other Saturday event already scheduled.
Grain Valley, Missouri's Brian Brown will try to top the ASCS Midwest vs. Northern Plains season opener for the third year in a row after besting fields in excess of 50 entries in both 2006 and 2007.
Fargo, North Dakota's Natalie Sather enters the event as the reigning ASCS Midwest Region champion, while 20-year-old Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND, kicks off his ASCS Northern Plains Region title defense with Friday's card.
Friday's racing action is set to go green at 7:00 p.m.
Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway is located in Greenwood, NE, between Lincoln and Omaha off I-80 Exit 420, then 0.4 mile north on SR 63 then west. For more information, contact the track at 402-944-2233 on race days or at 402-342-3453 during business hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday).
The ASCS Midwest Region is currently slated for 10 nights of action at eight different tracks throughout Nebraska and the immediate surrounding area stretching into Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.
The ASCS Northern Plains Region is set for 14 nights of racing action at nine different tracks throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa in 2008.
The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with 14 different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
