ASCS Northern Plains Ready for Jackson Nationals
TULSA, Okla. (July 11, 2006) -- The American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region will take center stage during the Friday night portion of the 28th Annual Jackson Nationals in Jackson, MN, with a winner's share of $2,500 up for grabs.
Entering the Jackson Nationals, seven different drivers have cracked ASCS Northern Plains Region victory lane through the series opening eleven events of 2006, with current series point leader Chuck Swenson leading the way with three triumphs.
Swenson's first victory of the season came during the series June 2 stop at Jackson Speedway, with Bryan Dobesh racing to Jackson's victory lane the following night. Friday night's ASCS Northern Plains feature at Jackson offers up $2,500 to win and $300 to start.
Watertown, South Dakota's Swenson has amassed a 234-point lead in the series' inaugural championship points race over 18-year-old Harwood, ND, shoe Lee Grosz. Sioux Falls racer Eric Lutz enters the event ranked third, just 40 points behind Grosz, with Minnesota racers Curt Lund and Brett Geldner rounding out the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten includes Dusty Ballenger, Dustin Lindquist, Jesse Drost, Jake Peters and Brent Vonk.
Friday's racing action gets under way at 7:00 p.m.
The semi-banked, 0x00bd-mile Jackson Speedway dirt oval is located 0.3 miles south of I-90 Exit 73 on US 71, then one mile east on CR 38, then 0.9 miles south on CR 51 at the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact the track at 859-509-8157 or 507-847-5355.
In its first year of action, the all-new ASCS Northern Plains Region has a full slate of 21 events at ten different tracks throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
