KAEDING WINS HIS FOURTH NST FEATURE IN DODGE CITY

Tim Kaeding (Slick 50) grabbed the lead out of turn two on the first lap of Friday night's National Sprint Tour race at Dodge City Raceway Park and was never passed for the rest of the 30 lap feature. Kaeding, winner of the fast dash, once again chose the outside pole for the start putting the local JD Johnson (Johnson) on the inside. Of his lane choice Kaeding said, "That is where I have always run my whole life racing. My motto is "live and die by the high side".

We're living by it right now. As soon as we die by it I'll go to the bottom again. It's just the fast way around. Steve Kinser (Quaker State) powered by Johnson in turns 3 and 4 of the first lap. Johnson showed some great driving through the evening for the pole position start.

His luck went sour going into 1 and 2 on the second lap bringing out the first red flag of the evening. When asked what happened he said, "I went down into 1 and 2 like I had the two previous times and right when I got into 1 a nozzle line came off the fuel to the motor and it caused the motor to fall on it's face and I got ate up in the cushion and sucked up into the wall and smacked it." He was unable to restart.

The single file restart saw Kinser dive into 1 and 2 almost pull along side Kaeding. Kaeding commented after the race, "I saw him low and just kept the gas wide open." The single file restart put the leaders in heavy traffic immediately. Kaeding showed no short comings when challenged by the slow traffic. Kaeding and Kinser weaved through traffic and despite trying every possible line Kinser was unable to put a real challenge on Kaeding. A yellow on lap 6 and a red on lap 15 did not have an effect on the two leaders.

The third place car Jason Solwold (City Wide). Solwold started 6th and explained his good run saying, "We made a couple of good moves right there off the bat. People went the right direction and I went the other direction and we just worked right. We did sneak up through there. I felt we were just as fast as the 11 cars. I felt I was as fast if not faster than that green car. I was staying right with him and we I got to lapped traffic I got next to Steve of course when you show yourself once to him and then it's all over. He starts running right where you're at. We had an experimental Shark motor and played with that all night and it ran good." Solwold was followed Jason Meyers (Elite Landscaping) and Jason Sides (Wetherington) in fifth place. The point's battle tightens as Kinser moves up one spot to 3rd and Sides moves up into the top 5.

The B main feature was won by local driver Ned Powers (Coors Light) in the 44 car with the Abe Sherwood (Kantor Oil), Rich Bubak (AAI Speed Equipment), Mike Woodruff (Coors Light), and CJ Johnson (Rush Tank) following. Fred Brownfield allowed the last two cars in the B feature the choice of running in the A main. This made Seth Brahmer (Freedom Lending) and Larry LaPoint (The Motorcycle Shop) very happy. This accounted for the 26 car field in the A feature.

Dash 1, the fast dash was won by Tim Kaeding with a damaged engine. Kaeding commented, "We knocked the push rod off and it messed up the valves". He was impressed with his team's ability to change the motor in about 20 minutes. When asked how he felt about the team getting him a new motor like that, Kaeding commented, "Last year, I'd be sitting the next one out."

Kaeding was followed by the Kinser, Meyers, Brian Paulus (Arnold), Tim Shaffer (Casey's) and Shane Stewart (Rudeen).

Dash 2, was won by local driver J.D. Johnson followed by Lucas Wolfe (Selma Shell),

Jason Sides (Wetherington), Solwold, Danny Lasoski (Roth) and Paul McMahan (Bass Pro Shops).

Racing continues Saturday evening for the second race of the National Sprint Tour stop in Dodge City, KS. Their next stop is Attica Raceway Park, Attica, OH on May 26.
