Rock Springs NST weekend cancelled due to weather
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. -- For the last 25 years, this particular September weekend had been dry in Rock Springs.
Until this year, that is.
Continued wet and cold weather has forced the cancellation of this weekend's National Sprint Tour doubleheader at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs.
Friday's show was postponed due to rain showers throughout the afternoon. At the time, forecasts called for Saturday to be cold but dry.
Late Friday night, however, the forecasts changed. There was blowing snow and more rain Saturday morning, and the continued weather issues forced the cancellation of the entire NST weekend.
The NST will be running at Sweetwater Speedway next year, with a target date of mid-August. Tickets purchased for this year's shows will be honored next year.
The next race for the series will be Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana.
