Adamczyk Leads ASCS Patriot Hard Charger Standings Entering Season Finale

TULSA, Okla. (August 25, 2006) - For the second year now, the Gater Racing News Hard Charger of the Season Standings has done just what it was set out to do: reward the drivers that pass plenty of cars, especially those that aren't winning all of the races.

With the cancellation of the Freedom race for the Bobcat of Buffalo ASCS Patriot Sprint Group, it leaves just one full point race left on the schedule for 2006. With McKean County Raceway in Smethport, PA, playing host to the final race on Saturday night, September 2, it helps to strengthen the possibility that Don Adamczyk will end up as the 2006 Gater Racing News Hard Charger of the Season.

Through the first 13 races, the "Williamsville Warrior" has moved up a combined 54 spots in the 2006 events. Adamczyk's average of 4.15 positions moved forward per race is a full one point ahead of the next closest, Chuck Hebing, and more than 40% more cars passed than any of the other over 70 drivers that have run with the ASCS Patriots this season.

Jared Zimbardi won the Hard Charger of the Season Award last year, largely in part due to his ability to turn around misfortune in heat races and turn them into top-ten finishes.

2006 has clearly been the best season in sprint cars for the only driver who has attended every single ASCS Patriot race in the four-year history of the club. The Williamsville, NY, resident has collected 9 top-tens this season and was two laps away from his first-ever "A" Main win at Brockville.

Adamczyk has not clinched the title yet, but in order to lose it, ASCS Patriot point leader Chuck Hebing would have to pass at least 14 cars more than Adamczyk at McKean County. Considering that Hebing has yet to start a race this season worse than 13th, the odds are slim.

While Adamczyk and Hebing sit first and second, the real battle is going to be on for third, the last paying position.

Rich Swarthout, Brad Knab and Geoff Quackenbush are currently tied for this spot, with 30 cars passed this season. Amazingly, Nick Bashford, Gary Troutman, and Chris Muhleisen are just one point behind the third-place trio, making at least six drivers that will make it come down to the one final race.

If those six were not enough, defending Gater Hard Charger champion Jared Zimbardi is just four points back of third. Other contenders for third place include the Breen Brothers, Blake and Bobby, Mike Stelter and Rick Wilson.

Even though there are three challenge races still to be run after McKean County, next Saturday will conclude the tightest point battle of the season. For more information, log onto ASCSracing.com.
