Green Valley on Tap for ASCS Rebel Region

TULSA, Okla. (March 26, 2007) -- The American Sprint Car Series Rebel Region resumes its inaugural season of racing action this Saturday night with the series' first stop of the season at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL.

Saturday's card atop the semi-banked, 3/8-mile oval, which could reveal some of the top series championship contenders, marks the first of two ASCS Rebel Region stops at Green Valley Speedway with a return engagement on August 25.

The ASCS Rebel Region opened up the season on February 10, with Marshall Skinner fending off Wayne Johnson and Terry Gray in a challenge event versus the ASCS Coastal Region at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL.

Several potential title contenders stepped up in the opener and are expected Saturday night, including Georgia racers Brian Thomas and Doug Day and Florida's Tyler Godwin, T.J Winegardner and Wilie Stauffer.

Racing action for the ASCS Rebel Region at Green Valley Speedway gets under way this Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Green Valley Speedway is located in Glencoe, AL, near Gadsden, 4.5 miles southeast of US 278 on US 431, then four miles southwest on Green Valley Road. For more information, contact the track at 256-492-8550.

Currently, the ASCS Rebel Region is slated for a dozen events at ten different tracks throughout Georgia, Alabama, north Florida and Mississippi.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
