TULSA, Okla. (August 2, 2004) - Keith Rauch can move one step closer to his first American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region championship with a strong performance this Friday night, as the series makes its first of two stops at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, KS.
With just eight events remaining including this Friday night's outing atop the high-banked, three-eighths mile Thomas County dirt oval, Rauch holds a slim 34-point lead over fellow Thornton, CO, resident Eric Miller.
Rauch has posted five top-five feature finishes through the series opening 11 features of 2004, including his first series victory at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, SD.
Joining Rauch and Miller this Friday night will be other top ASCS Rocky Mountain Region shoes including Colorado drivers Jake Pierson, Jeremy Sheaffer and Geoff Dodge, who round out the current top five in points. Completing the current top ten in points entering this Friday night's event are Jace Pennetta, former series champions Nick Haygood and Randi Miller, and Scott Milan and John Jacob.
Thomas County Speedway is located off I-70 Exit 53, then 1.7 miles north on SR 25, then west at the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact the track at 785-443-6174 or 785-460-6403.
The 2004 ASCS Rocky Mountain Region slate consists of approximately 20 nights of racing at eleven different tracks throughout Colorado, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota and Wyoming.
