Rauch Roars to Thunder Mountain ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Victory

OLATHE, Colo. (May 28, 2006) -- Keith Rauch raced into the lead on the fourth round and never looked back as he posted his first American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region feature win of the year in Sunday night's 25-lap feature at Thunder Mountain Speedway.

For Rauch, the 2004 ASCS Rocky Mountain Region champion, it was the perfect remedy for the disappointment of suffering a broken front-end while battling for the lead in the latter stages of Saturday night's feature.

After the original start was waved off for a tangle that eliminated third heat race winner Patrick Bourke, it was Jake Pierson jumping into the early lead.

Pierson paced the field for just three laps before Rauch took command aboard John Schmitz' USA Performance Engines Wintergreen Construction No. 71 Maxim. Rauch went unchallenged the rest of the way to become the fourth different winner in as many events as he recorded his second career Rocky Mountain Region victory.

Pierson held second to the line, with Saturday night winner Nick Haygood claiming the show position. Greg Schaefer and Eric Miller rounded out the top five, with Larry Lapoint, Josh Grady, Brett Ream, Josh Fellows and Jeff Heffner completing the top ten.

Pierson, Rauch and Bourke were the heat race winners.
